Sport for People with an Intellectual Disability
Isle of Man Special Olympics is the only even of its kind that provides sports training year-round. The competition is available for children and adults with an intellectual disability.
Athletes are given the opportunity to develop skills, get fit, and be part of a community. People with intellectual disabilities are often misunderstood or even ignored. When provided with the means to gain skills and compete they become valuable members of a community.
Regardless of skill level, anyone with an intellectual disability can compete, from the novice to the elite athlete who wants to compete on a world stage.
